I have to talk about The Lizzie Bennet Diaries!

I had already heard about it, but I had not watched it until last week. It´s awesome!

My favorite is EP 7: The most awkward dance ever.

It´s a Pride and Prejudice fanfic (Yay, another one!), retelling the story on a modern twist and through Lizzie's POV. It´s great! 

Each P&P retelling gives me a bit more to fully appreciate the story and this one has given me this precious line said by Charlotte to explain why Lizzy still hates Bing Lee even after he charmed the pants out of everyone (her words!).

Lyzzie hates to change her mind.

Yeah, that´s it! She does!

They are fun and short episodes, so you don´t get tired. Each has about 3 minutes and it´s so much fun that you'll wish there was more. Wired has republished an ARGNet issue on TheLBD with all the production details. Check it out.

The adorable girls @ Facebook group Orgulho e Preconceito Fanfics prepared Portuguese subtitles for the videos. Aren't they the custest eva?

The best!

Up until now, there are 14 episodes and they are at about... the gathering at the Lucases. Here is 'Lu' and there wasn´t really a dinner. Lizzie and Darcy get to interact at a pub, and there are video games involved. The dance Lizzie cannot deny Darcy at the Netherfield Ball is chapter 7: the most awkward dance ever. It´s funny, you have to try it!

No yummy salad on top could make hubs stop frowning...

I watched the episodes in a roll and I loved them. So engrossed I was that I even burned dinner - and let me tell you: No one likes burnt pizza. I got so involved in this story that I wanted to share some thouhgts here - from a JAFF addcit POV.

Lizzy is kinda young - 24 years old - for my story (How William Darcy persuaded Lizzy Bennett to love again AKA Friendship of  a special kind; now let out your breath!), but she could do fine for my shorter one, set in Brasil. If you haven´t read it yet, it's posted here.

I know Lizzie, we all love to hate him too! But it'll get better... WAY better!

#pearl earrings

I have to say (a bit ashamed) that I do have an earring similar to the one she wears to impersonate Mrs Bennet. Mine is cuter and all, but whenever she impersonates her mother, my eyes get glued to the earrings.

Lizzie plays Mrs Bennet and Charlotte plays Mr Bennet. Pipe! Ha!

#bow tie Darcy

Whenever Mr Darcy comes along, he is impersonated with a bow tie and a beret. Really? That much of a dush? 

Lydia plays Bing Lee (!) and Lizzie plays Darcy. Ha!

I asked around,

and few Darcys want to parade around with a bow tie.

'Huh, huh. Nope.'

'Forget I asked anything, Sir. Sorry for the inconvinience.'

Well, he is allowed anything. Austen had him in mind writing P&P way back when.

'Oscar's night. Want to complain about anything, Cara?'

That leads to: IF Mr Darcy shows up - until now we have only 4 characters: 

Horizontally: Lydia and Lizzie, Jane and Charlotte

Anyway, IF Darcy shows up, how will he look like? Who will it be? Does this actor KNOWS that what he´ll be up to? Can I make a suggestion for the casting director?

Oh, yes! Totally Darcy material!

I never liked the Lydia character, but here I do! She rocks! Lee Dee Ah is Whaaat-able!

#Lizzie fast talker

Lizzie talks soooo fast. I wonder if they rehearse a lot before recording. If not, I´m officialy a low achiever. Damn!

Dating Mr Darcy at the workplace

And the workplace is Darcy Inc., a good place for office romance!

Friendship of a special kind just had two eventful chapters today. A spy, a sexy hotel overnight, a wedding and Mr Darcy and Lizzy ended up on the verge of working together. How would that be like? Lizzy is a person very prone to freaking out, but not at her work. There she is a shark! Darcy doesn't know that. Yet. 

Mmmm, there are so many ways this could go astray. Don´t you think?

As I've been there, so I'll offer some advice. If it turns out to be of some help to anyone other than Lizzy and Darcy, let me know. 

Love post it to make sure Mr Darcy remembers the thrill of flirt...

Hot Rio Chick's practical guide to office romance.

 1- Don´t get caught.

 

 It´s a darn mood breaker. The thrill raises the fun. You know, what's prohibited is saucier!

Roberto Carlos says that any good thing is either ilegal, imoral or fattening. 

Fattening is awful, aside from that, a bit of the other two is welcomed.

2- Sneak to a quiet place to make out

We - hubs and me, back when we were intern and junior archictect - used the office library. Well, I was in charge of arranging it and... one thing lead to another. 

I always loved books!...

3- When in the office, play cool

Leaning on desks is fine; chatting, bickering, lunch together too. But you know, keeping the distance makes the library moments much more fun!

A friend dated a boss once and there was petting - mild but still petting: not nice! At all!

4- When out with the office crowd, use the popcorn seat

Popcorn seat is a space between. Remembering the first rule, you don´t want to get caught red handed. So, keep a safe distance - like arms' length: You cans till touch (and occasionally pinch) but it won´t be blunt.

5- Send fake notes with real messages - or is it real notes and fake messages?

'I love the new coffee machine' can mean: I like you hot and intense OR I like the use we found for the kitchnete.

If the other doesn´t understand exactly what you meant, he'll understand sometihng.

Use your imagination, and send notes!

6- Have a good time

Yeah, that´s the main issue here. Go for it!






7 - Lie if you have to.

It's your party, lie if you want to. Or have to. 

Sometimes, a white lie is very useful. Don't rule out that option.

A friend says that 'one should not eat meat where one earns his bread.' It makes sense in Portuguese. Anyway,  you got the message, right?

8- Last but not least: try not to break up.

The thing is, there are only so many times one can mix salt on a sugar bowl so the coworker ruin his coffee. Or hide an egg in his desk drawer and wait for it to rotten.

Break ups are messy and if you'd still have to see the jackass - hot jackass - face everyday... That's not nice.

Beautiful Sunday morning here! 

Another double chapter posted and Friendship of a special kind aka 'How Darcy persuaded Lizzy' picks up steam...

This chapter, as they have a good time flirting and dating, Lizzy takes Darcy dancing!

When choosing a name for the night club they went to, and that would be mentioned a few other times during the story, I wanted something inspiring. The club itself had to be something that would thaw Darcy´s bad mood. 

Flavorwire once posted a list of the worst books for Valentine´s where Bronte´s Wuthering Heights appeared as a story about terrible people that should really all just leave each other alone. So inspiring! If I hadn´t read it already, I would have at the spot!

So, the club is inspiring, romantic and seasonal. During summer nights, it would rock!
