I'm not eating dessert this week

hey, there.
If you were expecting a new chapter for 9 ways to live Pride and Prejudiciously, I'm sorry. It's still in the oven, this is yet another babbling post, but a good one. Promise.
It comes from another Sex and the City pearl, now a Samantha quote.

'I'm not eating dessert this week.'

fanpop
She meant food, sweets; but I took it far.
Difficult times here in Rio de Janeiro and you know what? I'm putting myself through detox - not only nutritional, but mostly spiritual.

A few weeks ago, a good friend told me about a great guru, but I hadn't read anything until now. Check this out:

His name is Prem Baba from Awaken Love movement, and he said stuff in crispy clear words here in this post : Life is supposed to be simple: one only has to find balance.

He asks: Do you deal the same way with happiness and sadness? You should.
Mental equanimity is the capacity to keep calm in any situation, no matter if during difficult times or in the middle of great victories. Of course, for that there's a road to travel.
He says the answer is in the capacity to restart and be able to renovate your vows with self-realization constantly.
Renovate and restart, like nature does,
means do not dwell on what's transitory:
emotions, thoughts, feelings - either good or bad.
Imagine you are the sky where
white fluffy clouds or heavy dark ones can pass.
One cannot take either as the absolute truth.
Life is ciclical, one time we're surfing a big wave others we're down a valley. What we need is the ability to keep calm while passing throught the valley preparing to ride up again.
Distress attacks you through comparison and desire, that's how it drags down your conscience. You only need a sligh distraction and you go down.

That's me... I do get distracted and let myself get sucked down a drain of comparisons and empty desire and bad vibes and urgh! I avoid that, I swear, but sometimes we're not as strong as we should and could or would want to be...

So, this is where the detox promise comes in: avoid the temptations, focus on seeing myself as the sky and let the clouds pass me by.

Tks a bunch, Prem Baba.

Musical Post 9 - I choose you

Sara Beirelles is like Colbie Caillat to me, I like amost anything they sing. And sometimes, depending on the stage of effort I am in my run, I'm not sure which voice is coming from my ipod.

And both have inspired me on my writings more than once. It's like my muse dreams of their muse as companion.

This Sara song - I choose you - is so lovely, it has everything to do with the last book I wrote, the closing romance for my first series - the modern fairytales.

Let just enjoy the soft voice and romantic lyrics.

Let the bough break, let it come down crashing
Let the sun fade out to a dark sky
I can't say I'd even notice it was absent
'Cause I could live by the light in your eyes
I'll unfold before you
Would have strung together
The very first words of a lifelong love letter
Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose
you
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose
you
I choose
You, yeah
There was a time when I would have believed them
If they told me that you could not come true
Just love's illusion
But then you found me
And everything changed
And I believe in something again
My whole heart
Will be yours forever
This is a beautiful start
To a lifelong love letter
Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose
You
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose
You
I choose
You
We are not perfect we'll learn from our mistakes
And as long as it takes I will prove my love to you
I am not scared of the elements I am underprepared,
But I am willing
And even better
I get to be the other half of you
Tell the world that we finally got it all right
I choose
You, yeah
I will become yours and you will become mine
I choose
You

Musical post 8 - Shine

Hi,
Here's another song that got me for a verse - in this case a lovely foursome of verses.

I wanna be the one you steal, you shield,
that your love can heal.
Aww... lovely isn't it?
I could easily write a good scene based on this.

The song is Shine by Years&years and as I own an Ipod shuffle, I never see faces or read names which prevents unnecessary prejudice. Frequently I get surprised by the artists that get my heart.
This is the case.

Here's the lyrics.
I remember us alone
Waiting for the light to go
Don't you feel that hunger
I've got, so many secrets to show
When I saw you on that stage
I shiver with the look you gave
Don't you hear that rhythm, can you
Show me how we can escape

I was biting my tongue
I was trying to hide
(Ooh oh oh oh, ooh oh oh ooh)
I'll forget what I've done
I'll be redefined

It's shaking the sky
And I'm following lightning
I'll recover if you keep me alive
Don't leave me behind
Can you see me I'm shining
And it's you that I've been waiting to find
I'm holding it all tonight
I'm folding it all tonight
You know that you make it shine
And it's you that I've been waiting to find
I'm holding it all tonight
I'm folding it all tonight
You know that you make it shine
It's you that I've been waiting to find

Now that we can hear that sound
Now that you can hold me down
You can pull me under
You can raise everything to the ground
Everything I can arrange,
Every part of me you change
Just hold me together, tell me
You'll always want me to stay

I was biting my tongue
I was trying to hide
(Ooh oh oh oh, oh oh oh ooh)
I'll forget what I've done
I'll be redefined

It's shaking the sky
And I'm following lightning
I'll recover if you keep me alive
Don't leave me behind
Can you see me I'm shining
And it's you that I've been waiting to find

I wanna be the one you steal
I wanna be the one you shield
I wanna be the one
That your love, that your love
Can heal
I wanna be the one you steal
I wanna be the one you shield
I wanna be the one
That you'll love, that you'll love

It's shaking the sky
And I'm following lightning
I'll recover if you keep me alive
Don't leave me behind
Can you see me I'm shining
And it's you that I've been waiting to find
I'm holding it all tonight
I'm folding it all tonight

You know that you make it shine
It's you that I've be waiting to find
I'm holding it all tonight
I'm folding it all tonight
You know that you make it shine
It's you that I've be waiting to find
It's you that I've be waiting to find

It's you that I've been waiting to find

Let it go

Hello, there.
This time of the year usually make us very nostalgic, maybe Christmas Eve is not as powerful as December, 31st but 2016 brought such a turmoil that I'm looking forward to its end.

I'm not THAT desperate as to sing Elsa from Arendelle, this 'let it go' comes from Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke. As a young girl renting VHS tapes in my small home town, Out of Africa was the movie that touched me the deepest because I felt Karen's helplessness. As a teenager in a weird hair phase, I felt for her but more than that it was her struggle to tame both her farm and Dennys Finch Hatton's heart that tugged on me. At the time I thought Meryl Streep's long white face influenced me (it was the first time I saw her), but now I see it's the eloquence in the realization of failure.
A scene I never forget is when in a sudden downpour, the lake she had been trying so hard to build doesn't hold. The employees hurry to rebuild the fragile sand walls and she sighs, hangs her head and says a guttural: 'Let it go, let it go.'
I always remember that.

This is a perfect illustration of 2016.

We had an impeachment of a deeply incompetent lady President (let me not mumble about lost women empowerment opportunities here), saw the Supreme Court work almost exclusively to put order on the Congress' brats and then be challenged by the House leader, the biggest and more gruesome embezzlement scandal that ever existed in this planet, a broken country with beggar states that can't afford to pay salaries, unemployment levels go sky high.
How about the Olympics, you may ask. It was great, so much fun... But prices went up to profit from turists and stayed high, the Olympic Park is abandoned, new subway... well, you know: embezzlement, corruption, 2 governors in jail.
The country and Rio de Janeiro state in such chaos, small business like mine are almost impractical. Some days we feel like Rio is one of those Old West cities with hay balls rolling by.

In spite of all this - or probably BECAUSE  of all this, I managed to write almost daily. As soon as 2016 vanishes, I'll have tons of new stuff to brag about. But frankly, I'd rather wait a few more days and try my hand in 2017.

Very bold of me to wander far from Mr Darcy and Lizzy, but I did. Aside from a reviewed version of Love hurts on Kindle Unlimited, I'll release the full version of Eclipse of the heart and the all new Love inside and out completing my Regency Era Trilogy (aka Moira tries to wear petticoats). And then comes the cats! Lovely Persian cats entwining love stories. Let me take a break to say I'm proud of how this book fitted so nicely around itself.
And a much loved reviewed version of Friendship of a special kind with a few new scenes.

In Portuguese there'll be a lot of new stuff as an alternative version of Prince of Pemberley (JAFF) and a new series of modern fairytales. Maybe these princesses will have an English version...

So, as Karen said: Let it go, let it go... 2016 was tough, but we shall live to see 2017.

Happy holidays!
wash away the bad year, Dennis... Make it all go away... :D

Bright and successful New Year!
